Format:
The program is offered in virtual workshop format, with a series of sessions of 3.5 hours in length, all within a term of 2 weeks. Participants will develop knowledge and skills through the analysis of project cases, in which they will be able to implement not only the theoretical aspects, but also the best practices and techniques of proven success. Participants will plan and work in teams to complete 2 case study projects of increasing scope and complexity.

Description:

This course goes beyond the standards of the PMBOK® Guide, the most recognized learning resource in this field and has 21 PDUs (Professional Development Units) recognized by the Project Management Institute. This course will help you:
  • Develop a complete and comprehensive Objective Statement; the foundation of a successful project
  • Create a detailed Execution Plan using a unique process called Objective Driven Logic, applied to a Time-Scaled Dependency Chart
  • Apply a simple, yet powerful method to resolve complex resource constraints
  • Calculate a detailed Budget and Cash Requirement Projection
  • Integrate contingency planning through "Scenario Estimating"
  • Determine where and when to best apply project management software

Meet the Instructor

Eric Hees | Vancouver, BC, Canada

With over 25 years of experience in facilitation, consulting and coaching, Eric Hees makes complex easy to understand and brings a refreshing approach to helping individuals and teams move from theory to action through practical and easily applied techniques.

Eric is an excellent problem solver with strategic and tactical skills and has developed a reputation for quality and on-time delivery in challenging situations. Interact very effectively with management, including CEOs, presidents, vice presidents, and managers. 

Being an experienced project management specialist, he has supported clients in developing execution plans for critical, complex and time-sensitive projects, including a corporate merger between two cross-border organizations with 25,000 employees, the merger of 13 emergency call centers in 3 regions serving more than 4 million people, and the design/construction of a new production facility for a national food processor.

With a deep passion for excellence and a broad understanding that processes, policies and procedures are integral to corporate excellence and results, Eric has worked with clients to shape and improve processes in many industries, including: Finance, Education, Aquaculture, Engineering, Gaming, Manufacturing, Forestry, Petroleum, Crop Science, Municipal Governance and Applied Research.


Eric was co-leader of a master data management replacement project for the Canadian division of a global pharmaceutical/agro-scientific organization; provided support for project coordination in a project to expand state services and replace equipment; facilitated execution planning and provided ongoing consulting and support in moving a Provincial Communication Centre to a new custom-designed facility, including the installation of customised, high-security equipment, staff recruitment and training, and ongoing communication with staff, management and stakeholders.

  • Facilitated planning sessions to develop the plan for 2020/2021 K-Days (Festival/Annual 10-Day Exhibition attracting more than 750,000 visitors)
  • Trained maintenance planners in the project management framework, creating an MS project template and quick reference guide to ensure timely and consistent project reports from the field, and advised planners on MS Project.
  • He was Business Leader (Non-IT) for the Bayer Calgary team in the first phase of a key project: the master data management replacement project.
  • Provided consultancy and execution planning support in moving a Provincial Communication Centre to a new custom-designed facility, including the installation of customised, high-security equipment, staff recruitment and training, and ongoing communication with staff, management and stakeholders.
  • Facilitated execution planning sessions to develop a merger/integration plan for more than 13 regional emergency call centres (911) into 3 provincial centres – announced in the Alberta Legislature – a key provincial initiative.
  • He designed the Level 1 Plan to build a production facility > $40 million. It produced clear times for the 26 detailed plans required.

Since 2004, Eric has been President of Plan-It Systems Inc., supporting organizations to achieve higher ROI from human resources, finance, etc. through consulting, coaching, training and innovative products in the areas of Project Management, Process Improvement, Programming and Business Management.


He has been a corporate facilitator at Priority Management Inc. since 2002.
